Tom Fazio's course at Kuki'o Golf and Beach Club on the Kaiula-Kona coast of Hawaii's Big Island is a golfer's Eden. The routing progresses from the clubhouse by the beach up nearly five hundred feet to rugged cliffs, and Fazio makes the most of it. The fairways are broad and the rough is minimal, since the biggest challenge comes from the stiff breezes off the Pacific, which can send errant balls off into the native jungle. The club also has a pleasant little ten-hole 2100-meter layout, also designed by Fazio, made up mainly of par 3s, quite a contrast with the imposing 6785-meter eighteen. That course certainly has what it takes to host major tournaments, but it naturally accommodates the fair to average players who are the bulk of the club's clientele. The fine clubhouse is equipped with all the amenities and includes a spa for relaxing after a round.
