Tom Weiskopf, Jay Moorish and Kansan (and winner of five British Opens) Tom Watson teamed up to transform a superb location into a transcendent golfing experience. Shadow Glen, founded in 1987 and opened two years later, is located only a half an hour outside of Kansas City, and features a fantastic stone clubhouse with all the amenities and a welcoming and attentive staff that keeps all of the facilities in tip-top shape. The landscape determines the layout, with big greens that have multiple pins for countless variations. Standout holes include the 477-yard, par 4 13th, a dogleg with a green almost completely surrounded by water, and the par 3 4th, which Watson christened the Burn, a term in Scotland that refers to a forced carry over a stream. The choice of tees will determine how tough the going will get, though every position presents its challenges.
