The Classic Course at Vasatorps Golfklubb was up to tournament standards when it opened nearly half a century ago, but it lacks the length and difficulty for today's top players, even if it remains a fine test for lesser lights. Enter Arthur Hills and Steve Forest, architects from the US who have earned a name for themselves in Sweden, having worked wonders on unpromising ground with their Hills and Sand layouts. The site for Vasatorp's Tournament Course is considerably better, and the designers have put in so-called waste bunkers, which are really just sand patches, abundant water, and spacious, sharply sloped greens; the aim was to create a blend of links-like and more wooded holes. There is plenty of length—6700 meters from the tips—though half a dozen tee positions on each hole accommodate players of all skill levels. The course hosted the LET Helsingborg Open from 2013 to 2015.
