Osprey Valley offers some of the purest golf in all of Canada. Each of the club's three completely separate courses is unique, though all were laid out by Doug Carrick. Carrick designed the Heathlands first a decade ago, and it is still the complex's showpiece. Inspired, as the name suggests, by the countryside courses outside London, the rough native terrain defines the Heathlands. The opening hole leads from a raised tee off along a ridge to a fairway sprinkled with little pot bunkers. The course progresses slowly to its signature hole, the par 5 17th, which moves from an elevated tee to a green that is notched into the side of a hill and further defended by a water hazard. The practice grounds are excellent, though other facilities are a bit primitive; there is not even a permanent clubhouse. Still, the Osprey remains a draw for those who crave links-style golf.
