This course, which had its debut in 1999, is Jack Nicklaus' first in Southeast Asia. Located on the edge of New Delhi near the scenic Aravali Range, the calm and peaceful Classic Golf Resort feels far removed from the capital city. The site features significant changes in elevation, and the subtropical climate can be trying for those who are not used to it, so visitors may want to use a golf cart. The tree-lined fairways and strategic bunkering demand careful shots, as do the sculpted greens. The Ridge+Valley demonstrates Nicklaus' concern to protect his legacy against some score-busting superstar to come: as one of, if not the, supreme golfers the game has ever produced, the Golden Bear seems to see his design career as an extension of his years as the sport's dominant player. The castle-like clubhouse here is outstanding, so players will find everything they could hope for at luxury accommodations.
