Nick Faldo, holder of six Major titles, laid out this course, his first design, here in the countryside near Kent. At over 6500 meters, Chart Hills has plenty of length, so less experienced players are advised to choose the front tee positions. Water hazards and strategically positioned bunkering are such that more fun is probably to be had from match play than from the card and pencil. And even if the course is not as difficult as it might first appear, shots will still require careful planning. The intriguing and trying holes will hold golfers' attention even on repeat play. Amenities include a gorgeous clubhouse, first-rate practice areas, outstanding maintenance and an attentive staff. The Chart Hills experience is enhanced by its proximity to the stunning gardens of Sissinghurst, a project Vita Sackville West, who was a leading figure in literature and society in early 20th century England.
