course description

Baberton Golf Club is located only 6 miles from Edinburgh City Centre and is easily accessible from the city bypass. The challenging 18 hole course laid out in over 90 acres of beautiful, rolling parkland has spectacular views of the Pentland Hills to the south, the Ochil Hills and Forth Bridges to the north, and Edinburgh Castle and the Edinburgh skyline to the east. The Club has invested in new sand based greens that allow our greens to be at their best irrespective of the weather. Our new Clubhouse provides magnificent views over the golf course and the surrounding countryside and offers a friendly welcoming atmosphere. The Club has a great history with many characters and one of the founder members, Thomas Horsburgh, a local blacksmith, invented the first steel-shafted clubs in the world taking out a U.K. patent in 1894. A copy of the patent and the clubs are on display in the Clubhouse. Baberton Golf Club welcomes visitors of all ages, experience or ability – our aim is to provide a first class golfing experience and a comfortable and relaxing clubhouse, with excellent catering and refreshments, so that our visitors will feel that they have had a memorable day ~~~~~~~Course photographs by Peter Tuffy © 2009~~~~~~~
